West Bridgford U13's v Sleaford RFC U13's

Match report by Andy Stobart.
Sleaford travelled to West Bridgford on a fine winter's morning looking to turn their recent form around and get back on track.

West Bridgford kicked off the game, and immediately the Sleaford Rugby Football Club forwards started driving through the defence, and with good support play, they put Matt over for the first try in the second minute. West Bridgford couldn't stop the Red & Black's pack from powering through them, off-loading to each other in perfect timing, creating problems all over the pitch and setting up rucks and drives, which saw Adam break through two tackles to score.

Sleaford kept the pressure on, and started to pass the ball through the hands very well with good support from the forwards, putting Davyd over for Sleaford's third try. West Bridgford tried to wrest from the Sleaford forwards, but the Red & Blacks defence turned ball over, and after the ball had gone through several pairs of hands, put Adam in the corner for his second try.

West Bridgford had the last shout of the half, with lax concentration and missed tackles by Sleaford seeing the home side score in the corner.

Sleaford started the second half where they left off in a sleepy mode, and West Bridgford upped their game, mixing it up front with the forwards, but the Red & Blacks kept their heads and turned the game back into their control. Sam made some good breaks which were eventually rewarded when Adam passed back outside for Sam to score. Sleaford scored a further two tries in the second half.

Final score - West Bridgford U13's 43-5 West Bridgford U13's

  • Team Squad: M Ashton (1T), A Askew, B Copley, C Elmer, D Greenish (1T), J Hunt, T Knapper, A Loveday, A Maddy (4T), J O'Hern, S Ogden (1T), C Stobart (4C) (Capt), G Thorpe, J Watts, O Wheeler, B Goacher, P McQuade.

Sleaford played some very good rugby today and showed what they can do when they want to.

We look forward to seeing you next week. Meet at 10.00am at the club to play Derby at home.
