Tour of Sleaford

		Sleaford is a traditional English market town with a long and varied history but has been brought up to date with The Hub, the largest craft and design gallery space outside London.

	Sleaford's St Deny's Church had to be rebuilt in the 18th century after an electrical storm

Sleaford can trace its history back to Iron Age times and was a thriving place of business due to its fantastic waterway systems.

At the end of the eighteenth century canals were built to connect the River Slea to the River Witham and the town enjoyed the status of being the local terminus in the area.

In the 19th century when rail took over from canals, Kirk and Parry, a firm of builders and architects who specialised in constructing railway stations and restoring churches were based in the town.

Some of the prominent places to look out for now include St. Denys' Church, which dates back to the 1180's. There's Money's Yard which used to be the central spot for trade and is where you'll now find the tourist information office and Money's Mill.

Not too far away from that is the Hub and Cogglesford Mill which is open for visits from April to September.

Nowadays Sleaford is still a thriving town. Businesses include Advanta Seed and the Interflora headquarters are based here.

Market days are on Friday, Saturday & Monday.
