I
am 15 years old and I have been going to Sutton on sea
all my life. It is a fantasic place to go with an amazingly
clean beach and town. I have many memories of Sutton,
being stung in the foot by a weaver, build dams, catching
crabs and most of all fishing.
My Dad's family have been going here for over 40 years
and have become very attached to Sutton. Ever since
i can remember we have been catching Plaice, Dover sole,
Shrimps, Salmon, Trout, Sea bass, Skate, and delicate
pipe fish or transparent squid.

We
have just returned from a week staying in Trustthorpe
near Sutton-on-Sea. We were pleasantly surprised by
the cleanliness and unspoilt nature of Sutton. It was
a breath of fresh air and we felt like we had stepped
back into a bygone era before the times of crass commercialism,
flashing lights and loud music. The area was clean,
the people friendly and polite, the beach was spotless
and the atmosphere was wonderful. Sutton-on-Sea struck
us as a safe, traditional place for a family holiday
and we hope to make many return visits.

We
moved to Sutton on sea 18 months ago, best move we have
made. It is a lovely place to live, the people of Sutton
are very friendly, the beach is great, my grandchildren
are looking forward to the school holidays so they can
come for a holiday.

What a stroke of unbelievable luck to move to a village
near this perfect beach. It is my very favourite place.
The sand is clean and soft. The beach is never crowded.
We love to come with a picnic straight after the kids
come home from school in the summer. In the winter,
we come with kites or a ball and just enjoy the bracing(!)
emptiness. Sutton seems to strike the perfect balance
between remoteness and commerciality. I just wish I
could have a beach hut to call my own!

| | I
think Sutton is great and I'm very fond of the area just south of Sutton on Sea
at Huttoft, where you can park right on the sea bank and there are miles of great
beach. The daily charge for Huttoft Car Terrace is very reasonable (£1.20 I think)
and there are toilets provided. I like your new beach guide. Best
wishes, Pat I
love the beach huts in Sutton, they give the seafront a really traditional air
and it's nice to hire one, take a picnic and spend the day on the beach building
sandcastles and flying kites... I might be in my 30s but it doesn't look like
I've grown up much! Adi, Nettleham
Sutton
is always the favourite if Skeggy seems just too noisy and busy! Look out for
the maple leaf shaped paddling pool donated by the Canadian government after the
devastation caused by the '53 floods. And in the water look out for the wreck
off-shore. Although signposted on the beach, the unwary could get a shock splashing
about! Charlie Partridge

I have been visiting Sandilands and Sutton on Sea since the day I was born, I
am originally from Grimsby and every year we decamped down to the coast for 6
weeks every summer holiday. It
has changed a lot in those years, the arrival of the huge lumps of granite, the
removal of the grains etc etc. The hot summer of '76 where the only cool place
was in the sea, the year of the ladybird plague where you had to eat your food
in the sea to prevent it being covered ladybirds. Tennis week at Sandilands every
July, and my inevitable loss of the first round. Family barbeques, laughter and
fun. Sun burn. Calomine lotion. The sea air that knocks you out, with no sleep
problems during your visit. The Coastguard saving the unwary. Grandpa going for
a swim on Easter day, us refusing point blank! It
is interesting to see how each year the coast changes. I am now 30 something and
take my young family to the same places I went as a child. I am sure my son is
sick of me saying " did you know daddy used to be able to buy a comic and
a mars bar for 10p form the village shop by the sea front". Keep
Lincolnshire as it is, it is the most perfect county in the country. My ideal
summer; on the beach digging dams, making castles and braving the sea! roll on
July. Thanks
for the memories and to the future Mark
