Health Walks Around Stamford
Walks every Monday afternoon and a welcome to new walkers. Walkers meet (except for the second Monday of the month, see below) at the Lady Anne’s Hotel, St Martins
Without, Stamford, at 1.45 pm for departure at 2 pm. There are a choice of walks in and around Stamford: in Burghley Park to the Lion Bridge or the Sculpture Garden; in the Meadows towards Tinwell and along Melancholy Walk; past Wothorpe Towers towards Easton-on-the-Hill; past Hudd’s Mill on the lower meadows towards Uffington; and some interesting detours. The main walk is 2 to 3 miles, but arrangements for a shorter and less challenging walk can be made for those who want it. (And sometimes a few keen walkers branch off with a walk leader for a longer walk.)
Every Monday - 2pm - Lady Anne's Hotel

Out-of-town walks
On the second Monday of the month, the group take a walk ‘out of town’.
11 July Ferry Meadows, Peterborough
8 August Blatherwycke area
12 September Grimsthorpe Park area
10 October Clipsham Yew Tree avenue and woods
14 November Wansford (Old Sulehay Forest) area
12 December Hills and Holes, Barnack (morning walk followed by Christmas

On these out-of-town walks, most walkers prefer to meet at a venue near the start of
the walk. Providing we know beforehand, arrangements can be made to collect
anyone who needs transport from Lady Anne’s Hotel. The Stamford walk message
line (07092 355946) will have details of the meeting point for the current walk, as
should the current Stamford Mercury ‘What’s on’ diary.
The Stamford group are looking for volunteers to be ‘walk buddies’, to accompany
walkers on the shorter walks. If anyone is interested, please contact Kate Holley.
