21st August
Still 3 Swifts in Scothern.5 Sooty Shearwaters past Gibraltar Point and a Barred Warbler on reserve. 3 Arctic Skuas off Skegness.

Unconfirmed report (no sign later) of 2 Buff Breasted Sandpipers at Covenham Reservoir. Little Stint at Tetney Marshes on beach off yacht club at high tide also 2000 + Golden Plovers in area.

19th August
Freiston Shore - 7 Black Terns, Little Gull, 40 Greenshanks and 15 Little Egrets.

Covenham Reservoir - 6 Black Terns, 2 Little Gulls, adult Meditteranean Gull, Greenshank and 9 Ruff.

18th August
Grayling butterflies Risby Warren.

Common Buzzards in air in Kexby.

Adult Little Stint at Waters Edge Country Park Barton-on-Humber flew west.

2 Whinchats at Gibraltar Point in East Dunes.

House Martins in Legbourne flying upto a wall and clinging onto it for a short time, I wonder if they were getting heat from it or possibly picking Black Garden Ants off it as the ants prepared for their nuptial flight?

17th August

Male Vapourer moths visiting Buddlea in Boston.

5 Marsh Harriers Nocton Fen.

Hobby chasing House Martins over a house in Legbourne.

16th August
About 25 Yellow Wagtails (50+) mostly juvenile between Brampton and Marton, went by lunchtime.

2 Common Lizards Boultham Mere, Lincoln basking on bricks near railway crossing, also possibly 3 Water Rails calling on reserve.

15th August
Harebell (Goblins Thimble) in a Brampton garden.

Covenham Reservoir a Greenshank,

2 Barn Owls possible juvvies in Legbourne.

In the Apley area about 80 Swallows inluding youngsters sunbathing on a barn door with their chests exposed to the sun, also a Yellow Wagtail there.

14th August
Mareham le Fen 2 Turtle Doves

Chiffchaff in a Legbourne garden.

Green Woodpecker in the Fossdyke village area near Boston and a possible Scarlet Grosbeak on a birdtable.

In Fiskerton a Greenfinch was feeding on a Nyjer Seed Feeder, a young Goldfinch setled on the wires nearby panicking to get on the feeder, the Greenfinch fed it a Nyjer Seed and eventually the young Goldfinch joined it on the same feeder.

13th August
Young Common Buzzard - Allington.

12th August

Longhorn Beetle Leptura quadpifasciata Whisby Nature Park. (Kindly i.d'd by Alan Binding).

Female Greenfinch sunbathing in Whisby on grass on bank upside down.

About 5 Quail calling between Welsdale Bottom and the Bluestone Heath Road.

2 Juvenile Garganey and 3 Green Sandpipers at Messingham Sand Quarry.

11th August
Puss Moth Caterpillar on a Willow in a Woodhall Spa garden.

An adult and young Coot visiting a garden pond in Kirton.

A House (presumably) Sparrow was under some Marjoram in a Scothern garden, it jumped up clung onto the stem pulled it down and fed on the insects on it.

At North killingholme Haven:- Juvenile Bar Tailed Godwit, 2 Turnstones, 3 Ringed Plovers and 1200 Black Tailed Godwits.

10th August
Bee Killer tried to take a small bumble bee from under a Marguerite flower but dropped it at rigsby, also young Hedgehogs in area.

In Aby a small bird (species not known) flew into a kitchen followed by a Sparrowhawk, both eventually evicted.

Spear and Broad Leaved Willowherbs in a May Crescent garden in Lincoln.

2 Juvenile Spotted Flycatchers in Brampton, it is hoped they have bred in the village and 18 Mistle Thrushes.

Male & female Siskins in a Dunholme garden all day.

8th August
Male Female and Juvenile Hobbies f
lying and tumbling together over a one third of an acre Norway Spruce Wood after they have nested there. Site not disclosed.

Hummingbird Hawkmoths:- Eagle Moor visiting Honeysuckle and 1 in Faldingworth visiting Red Phlox flowers.

Little Egret Tetney Marshes and a Marsh Harrier, also 6 Little Terns over creek north of Yacht Club.

6th August
Juvenile Goldcrest hit window in Fulbeck and died.

Wood Sandpiper Manby Flashes

Female Dachick with 6 young on the River Slea in Sleaford.

3rd August
Swifts left the Bassingham area.

7 Peacock butterflies on a Buddlea in Coningsby.

Hobby just west of Greetwell Hall on the Lincoln-Cherry Willingham road.

Extra birds at Toft Newton Reservoir Common Sandpiper and Little Stint.

Little Egret at Kirkby on Bain Gravel Pits.

Quail calling at Frampton Marsh.

2nd August
Young Kestrel on the wing in the Rigsby area.

Common Terns calling and flying over Lincoln Police Station on West Parade at 10.45pm.

In last few weeks juvenile Spotted Flycatchers visiting a garden in Holbeach Clough.

2 or 3 fresh Painted Ladies on Buddleas in Walkerith also a male Clouded Yellow.

1st August
Young Kingfishers in The Claims area near Ewerby.

Juvenile marsh Harrier at Boultham Mere in Lincoln.

Vapourer moth caterpillar eating Salvia leaves in a Woodfield Avenue , Birchwood Lincoln garden. Tawny Mining bees nectaring on Burdock thats been left to grow into bushes in Sibsey.
