Located at the top end of the Melton Road, it has a vast menu that is reasonably priced. Ashoka’s most popular dishes include chicken curry, lamb dupiaza with fried onions, lamb bhuna and lamb rogan with fried tomatoes and garlic. These dishes will set you back a fiver at the most. There’s also free home delivery within five miles for all orders over £15 and a 10% discount on all orders collected.

Wonderful masala dosas and other snacks are lovingly offered up to visiting patrons. The Chaat House was visited by the legendary cricket captain Kapil Dev and his team when they were on tour.

The first Shimla restaurant was opened in Birmingham. Its fame has since spread across the country, gaining an excellent reputation for great food in an upmarket restaurant. Bright and cheery with a contemporary setting.

Situated in St Martin’s Square close to the trendy bars. Lots of pasta and pizza dishes in a lively atmosphere with very friendly service from the staff and tends to be busy because of this.

One of the favourite dishes is fettucine al salmone - ribbons of pasta served in a sauce of smoked salmon, vodka, lemon zest cream and herbs.

Absolutely delicious and a bargain at £6.95 main meal size. Ideal restaurant for lunch and dinner, particularly if four or more people dine, as they’re currently offering to throw in a free bottle of wine.

Situated in Leicester Lanes, this is an excellent Italian restaurant that offers inexpensive pasta and pizza dishes in an enjoyable modern setting.

Pizzas range in price from £4.50 to £6.80 and includes delicious Poco Piccante - spicy chicken, mushrooms, roasted peppers, mozzarella and tomato.

Wines start at £2.85 a small glass, £3.60 a medium glass and £9.95 a bottle and there’s Moretti beer at £2.60 a bottle. Great service with a good atmosphere.

If you’re looking for a flashy gourmet restaurant, The Case is the place to go. The service is excellent and friendly, but as it’s rather pricey, so you may want to save it for a special night out.

Loaf is both a restaurant and a bar in the popular Braunstone Gate area of town that’s close to De Montfort University and Narborough Road.

It has an established reputation for serving excellent freshly prepared food, if at a somewhat high price. You’ll have to book first to get a place.

A well known chain of Italian restaurants across the county, it can leave you waiting for a table. But, as there’s a bar downstairs, time can be passed easily away.
