If these pictures are not enough there's more.
Here's a chance to step back in time and take a peek at Leicester
City Centre in colour in the 1970's. Look through any newspaper
and all the pictures of old Leicester are in black and white.
These
show Leicester as a grey, dull and grainy place. But it was a vibrant,
colourful and energetic city - just as it is now.

On
Sunday 26th September 1971 Mick Dolby, a freelance designer and
artist from Markfield took his father-in-law to Leicester Station
to catch a train to Newquay.
He
also took the opportunity to take these stunning pictures in colour
on his new camera - a Yashica Electra. We'd like to thank Mick for
sharing the pictures with us.

Have
you got colour pictures of Leicester tucked away in old photo albums
that you'd like to share with us all? We'd love to see them.
It
may be a wedding in Pocklingtons Walk with fantastic scenes in the
background, a bus trip to Bradgate Park or a trip to Filbert Street.
If you have then e-mail our editor, Liam McCarthy, he's the only
one round here to remember past back beyond 1980.
Send
us in your old colour pictures
of Leicester.
