"Yangtze is actually a fluid, collective, Athenian democracy type thing that I started at Oxford Poly, now Oxford Brookes.

We formed a band and entered a poly band competition. Nobody else could play an instrument, but in the true spirit of punk three of us performed, Paul Crosland and Mike Biddulph joining me on stage.

Pineapster CD
The Pineapster CD is just £4.99 via the website

I stuck bits of coloured paper on an old mono synth so that Paul would play his synth solo in key.

Mike played tambourine and Paul also sang. We did it as a fun joke for us to enjoy and damn the consequences, but then found that we'd got to the final! This was totally unexpected, and by the time the final came around we’d managed to fall out in true Spinal Tap tradition.

Three or four years ago and some better equipment and Yangtze was born. I talked Paul Callan, a great keyboardist, into helping me with a proper demo recorded in Reigate."

Yangtze appear Live on Wednesday 02 April along with other Pineapster bands NHiHH, Radium 88 and Les Jackson at Junktion 7 in Nottingham. Email Yangtze for more details.
