Rev.
Dr. Arthur Peacock, an ordained priest and internationally known scientist,
won the prize for his work to bring religions closer together and
explained the way faith and science can exist together and do not
need to exist in opposition.
"It is certainly true that Western science owed a lot to the
Arab culture in the ninth and 10th Century for generating and nurturing
science," says Rev. Peacock.
"I think the impression the general public and the media has
that Christianity and science are opposed really only dates to some
of the controversies of the 19th Century where the whole idea of evolution
came out," he added.
Mr. Raza and Rev. Peacock were in Leicester to attend the event to
symbolise the growing together, and respect between, Christianity
and Islam post 11th September.
