With bleak midwinter winds whipping across Leicester's Town Hall Square, shoppers enjoyed this year's service of traditional carols. The service was led by choristers from Leicester Cathedral, gospel choir "Sweet Inspirations" and the Kibworth Band.

In his Christmas message the Lord Mayor asked those present to remember victims of terrorism and conflict throughout the world as well as people in the farming community here in Leicestershire.
