Returning from
the conference, Hanza has mixed feelings about the organisation,
discussions and usefulness of an event which was attended by representatives
of most countries of the world.
Hanza questioned the cost of the conference and if it could be justified.
He also discussed if the event was being too ambitious to expect
people not to take exception to certain topics and walk out - as
some representatives did.
"One of
the most interesting parts of this conference was that people have
been very up front. Although on this occasion, it got so out of
control that people were not able to see eye to eye on anything
and that was a real shame. Had it been more specific in its focus
then I think it would have been far more successful than it has
been," says Hanza.
"The way I was able to contribute was by saying 'lets be realistic'
and lets acknowledge the wrongs that have happened. Slavery is and
issue and was an issue and I think it is only right and proper for
any reconciliation or any other progress to occur, to accept that
those things were wrong," added Hanza.
