Staff, pupils and parents at Griffydam Primary School near Coalville
worked for months to create a wildlife-friendly pond area and amphitheatre.
They are now working on a living maze.
They have been
awarded the annual Ken Chamberlain Award for their efforts. Valerie
Grant, Headteacher at the school says she is very proud of the achievement.
"One
of the nice things was that the dads got to know one another. The
final work has been that we have a much bigger playground and an
area where the children can go and sit," added Valerie.
The project
took 22 weeks to finish and will be added to soon with bird boxes.
The development of the garden will involve the new maze and bird
boxes and will be maintained by staff, parents and pupils.
