The desire
to turn convert acoustic songs honed over several years into
a loud and electric set led to the formation of Stonemonkey.
Former
Fabian's Tale guitarist Adam Hollier and drummer Richard Davis
joined forces with bass player David Granger.
It took
more than six months in various guises to get to Stonemonkey
including two weekends cooped up in a cottage on the Welsh/Shropshire
border upsetting each other and a congenial B&B host - but
that's showbiz.
The result
was a five-track EP with influences ranging from U2, Bob Dylan
and Coldplay.
Huddled
together in a self-contained flat in a former old folks home
in Leicestershire, the band spent a further six months practising,
writing, laughing and waiting for the first live appearance.
Future
live dates include the Market Tavern, High Street, Market
Harborough on Thursday 24th January; Saturday 2nd February
at The Shed, Leicester Thursday, March 7, Press Pass, battle
of the bands competition at Half Time Orange, Leicester, Thursday
28th March, Hogans Bar, Narborough Road.
The cd
is for sale at The Word on St Mary's Road, Market Harborough
(tel 01858 467926) or you can place an order on the website.
