The Leicester
six-piece have already cleaned up in the competition stakes
seeing off all rivals in two Leicester band competitions and
a national battle of the bands taking a grand's worth of prizes
home with them.
So what's
their secret? Well, their first good move was not to call
the band Lip Green Tomatoes, a suggestion by one band member
who remains nameless.
Instead,
says guitarist Andy Kempin, the band combined the non-tomato
part of the suggestion with another band member's offering
of Lucid - to form Lipp Lucid.
Andy reckons
the band's other main plus is having male and female singers.
He said: "They push our really catchy harmonies through."
The band
are playing at the Abbey Park Festival and have a big gig
at Sound Republic in London's Leicester Square on September
1st.
The band
are all home-grown apart from singer Natalie who snuck down
from Liverpool. Andy, although realistic about the band's
prospects, reckons success for a Leicester band would big
fantastic news for all city musicians.
