Leicester v Derby

By Jon Barber, Sports Reporter
Leicester City can go a long way to secure their safety in the Championship for another season this weekend, but they will have to turn over the leagues leaders, and win a difficult trip to the south coast.

Championship
Start Date:07/04/2007
Start Time:14:45
Venue Name:Walkers Stadium
Venue Town:Leicester

First up then a local match against rivals Derby County. The Rams lead the league, and are on the brink of a return to the Premiership. "What a challenge then" are the thoughts of Foxes boss Rob Kelly.

Indeed. But if recent Leicester performance are to go by; they will face a very tough test.

Listen to pre-match interviews with City Manager Rob Kelly and players Iain Hume, and Richard Stearman...

Kelly now believes his side must show some metal, "you know what local Derby's are like, and you have to make it work no matter what end of the table you are.

"I will pick at side that will get about them, that has get energy and got legs. The most important thing in this game is that we get about them."

"I think more than the rivalry, and the local pride, we need to perform for ourselves and achieve the standards we have set for ourselves."
Iain Hume

City have conceded seven goals in the last two games, while they have managed just three goals.

The club's top scorer Iain Hume - who scored in both games against the Rams last season - knows they can think the season is over just yet.

"I think it's important we bounce back. We've had a few poor results; a few poor performances, so I think more than the rivalry, and the local pride, we need to perform for ourselves and achieve the standards we have set for ourselves."

Join Jon Barber and Gary Rowett for full and exclusive commentary on Leicester against Derby live from the Walkers Stadium, Good Friday from 14:00 on BBC Radio Leicester 104.9 FM and DAB Digital Radio.

On Bank Holiday Monday Jon Barber will be joined by Charles Dagnall for commentary from Home Park on Plymouth Argyle against the Foxes
