James Morrison @ DMH

Tension built in the crowd as the band walked onto a darkened stage, eagerly awaiting the appearance of Mr Morrison himself. Moments later, striding on in his loose jeans and fitted t-shirt, he did not disappoint.

James Morrison launched himself straight into his repertoire of album favourites, with his voice as emotional and strong as ever, leaving listeners in no doubt of his talent.

The performance however was not as impressive...

New single 'Undiscovered' reared its head early in the set, a well-received yet bland version of a new and dynamic track, blending in alongside other unreleased numbers, with little build up or introduction.

Other favourites 'The Pieces Don't Fit Anymore' and 'Wonderful World' thankfully revived the crowd, with a sea of voices providing accompaniment, and stunning light displays as a backdrop.

Occasional changes to pace consisted of James on guitar with only a single band member.

This provided a well-needed contrast to the rush of similarly performed tracks, an intervention which came and went far too quickly, leaving a feeling of loss and a desire to hear more of the same.

Leaving the gig you feel proud to have witnessed such talent first hand, yet there will always be part of you wishing that you had experienced a true performance, worthy of a man of such skill.
