Breathing Places is a three year BBC campaign run with the help of a range of wildlife and conservation organisations. The BBC hopes to get a million people involved in transforming our landscape to create "breathing places" for people and wildlife. We will be providing you with all the materials to make the nest box and tell you where to put it and how to register it online. You can also make bird cakes for your nest box and if you don't know much about birds, don't worry because you can go on a bird watch walk to learn to identify birds using binoculars. Rutland Water The Anglian Water Bird Watching Centre is has a fascinating exhibition and is within the internationally famous Rutland Water nature reserve, with 20 bird hides.
It is the site of the first breeding ospreys in England for 150 years and is also the home of the British Bird Watching Fair each August. Twitchers group By watching TV programmes like Springwatch, Autumnwatch and Nature of Britain, you can find out how to get involved in creating a space for nature in your neighbourhood – from putting up a nest box in your garden to creating a local conservation area. Every BBC Local Radio station is running a Nest Box Challenge, so by going along to an event and building a nest box, you will be part of a huge new group of twitchers across the country! |
