Once upon a time...

By Curtis Harrison
Once upon a time in a magical land far, far away lived a dog called Magic. He was an old dog, a scruffy mongrel who had had a hard life. He lived in a village called Sherbet Village.

Magic was a friendly but, lonely dog and all the young children loved him because he owned a sweet shop.

Everyday before the children went off to school they would stop at the shop and say hello to Magic.

They loved going in and seeing all the magical things that happened in there. Inside is a wonderful, magical wishing well which stood smack bang in the middle of the shop floor.

Magic would chant a riddle with the children:

"Kyle, Danny, Stefan and Sandy,
Sherbet, Cinnamon, marshmallow, candy,
Jelly babies, jelly frogs and jelly fish.
Close your eyes and make a wish!"

All of a sudden from out of nowhere, sweets would magically start popping out of the wishing well.

The children's favourites were the flying giant saucers. The children loved these and would fly to school on them every morning.

Magic would sit in the shop all day, lonely and waiting for the children to come home. The only friends magic had were the children.

As soon as the bell went, at the children's school, they would rush home as fast as they could to get their toys. Then, off they went round to the magical music shop. The shop was truly amazing and so was magic.

After the children had washed there hands and had there tea, Magic would chant another rhyme and make all the toys in the shop come alive.

Everyone would get excited; the disco lights would flash and all of a sudden was turned into some kind of Fantasy Island.

Dancing elephants, slippery slimy snakes, scary witches and many, many other magical things.

It was getting late now and was nearly closing time. All the children left the shop with a big bag of treats. That is the tale of the dog called Magic the children and the marvellous, magic musical shop.
