BBC Radio Leicester presenters will introduce the packed show this Sunday in Loughborough. Breakfast Presenter Ben Jackson along with Chris Baxter and Lucy Collins will introduce the impressive line up booked to entertain you as part of a four-hour stage show building up to this year's Christmas lights switch on. Bill is one of the country's best known actors. He was of course Greengrass in 'Heartbeat' and more recently has appeared in 'The Royal'. He lives in Leicestershire and first appeared on BBC Radio Leicester just after the station's launch in 1967 making him one of the first presenters on BBC Local Radio. Bill now presents Maynard's Bill of Fare on BBC Radio Leicester. The Show There should be something to suit everyone with a mixture of song, dance and music. The show will start at 13.00 with rousing music including festive tunes to get you into the Christmas spirit. The Ratby Band Organisation has been thriving for many years and is made up of over one hundred players and supporters within it's four Bands. The Band focuses heavily on training players to a high standard with over eighty youngsters as well as adult musicians. Stevie Jones and Mark Gill

Stevie Jones is an acoustic based singer/songwriter who has been writing and performing for over 15 years. For the Christmas lights switch on show Stevie will perform with Mark Gill. This talented duo will treat us to two performances. They have been compared to some of their many influences including Counting Crows, The Waterboys, David Gray and Van Morrison. LSU Dance was formed in 1976 as part of Loughborough University's Athletic Union. They will be entertaining us with two dances. This mainly all-girl student group, attend classes ranging from ballet to Latin American. During the year they perform onstage in the University's union, at various charity events and at an annual show and competition. Colette

This twenty-year old media student has a very soulful voice and loves the classics like 'Natural woman' and 'Ain't no sunshine'. She can also turn her hand to "pop" hits and is currently working on her own material. Since Colette is studying at Loughborough University she is delighted to be appearing at the Christmas lights switch-on show. Four Leicestershire guys make up this local band. They have a wide range of influences - The Stone Roses and Stevie Wonder to The Libertines and Bob Marley. Jack and the Beanstalk is being produced by Wish Theatre, who have been behind Loughborough Town Hall's last three productions - 'Aladdin', 'Cinderella' and 'Dick Whittington'. BBC Radio Leicester Presenter Martin Ballard will once again slip into a dress to entertain the audience. For the Loughborough Christmas lights switch on show Martin will be joined by fellow cast members to entertain you just before handing over to Bill Maynard for the official switch-on. |
