Josie has been described by Ross Noble as a 'born comic... my face hurt from laughing'. She performed at Leicester's Bottle Rocket Comedy Club on 08 October 2006 and we caught up with her for a quick chat… Have you gigged much in Leicester? Yes I have a quite a few times, I think statistically I have gigged here more than is normal. Who or what inspired you to get into comedy and what keeps you going? I always loved watching TV comedy and when I was 14 I went on a local stand-up workshop, from the first time I performed I knew that I loved it. What keeps me going is that I can't imagine doing anything else. Stand-up is my favourite thing. Who are your favourite current comedians? So many! I like Daniel Kitson and David O'Doherty and Stewart Lee and Tony Law and Dan Antopolski and Robin Ince and Isy Suttie and Pappy's Fun Club. There are some brilliant really new comics too: Dave Nichols, Luke Roberts, Caroline Clifford, Arnab Chanda and Holly Walsh for example. Your recent Edinburgh show talked about 'Kindness and Exuberance'... What was the last kind thing you did? I am making some bread for my friend today, although, it's not that kind as I'd like to eat it as well. I'm also making an awesome present for my boyfriend, but again it'll make me really happy to make it. So deep down I'm an arsehole! Can you tell us more about your fanzine 'Drawing Moustaches with Magazines'? It's called 'Drawing moustaches in magazines monthly magazine (bi-monthly)' and it comes out about twice a year max. It's just a bit of fun really, I get my friends to draw cartoons and write silly articles for it and then we distribute it for free. It's fun. I make a lot of collages from that's life magazine. You regularly appear at Robin Ince's Book Club, what sort of stuff do you normally contribute? It's different every time, I tend to write something new for each month, about what I've been up to that month, but it's really diverse. Sometimes it's about Japanese folk art and sometimes it's about me sitting around in my house. If there were no limits to what you could achieve, where would you like to be in ten years time? Oh my. I have no idea. I'd like to be happy with what I'm doing, to have lots of ideas and to have found an audience that likes my stuff. I'd like to write some really good things and to be able to get them made. Also to learn hip hop dancing and to help save the world. Coming up at the Bottle Rocket Comedy Club...
