BBC Radio Leicester's Rupal Rajani has won an award for her emotional radio documentary, Rupal's Ugandan Journey. Rupal was presented with her Race In the Media Award (RIMA) for factual radio on 15 June at London's Royal Opera House. Listen to Rupal's Ugandan Journey by clicking on the link below... When she was two-years-old her family left the African country to escape the regime of dictator Idi Amin. She hadn't returned there for 33 years. Race In the Media Awards RIMA aim to celebrate exceptional ways in which the media have reported race issues. This year's awards specifically reflected the ways in which journalists, editors, producers, writers and performers dealt with issues of integration, diversity and Britishness. |
