Tony's first 'broadcast' in 1968 was interrupted by a mouse in the back room of his father's fishing tackle shop in Northgate street Leicester.
When the BBC decided to launch their first local radio station in the city, Tony's father began to contribute with his son deputising when he was on holiday.
Tony eventually found himself working as a freelancer to not only BBC Radio Leicester, but also Radio's 1, 2, 4 and the World Service - the complete spectrum!
This was all whilst he continued to work in the family business in conjunction with broadcasting.
Tony has since won several awards, notably a SONY award - the radio industry's equivalent of the Oscars. This was for the 'Best Local Radio Programme' which featured the terminal weeks of a teenager diagnosed with Leukaemia.

In 1991, he was appointed Programme Organiser at BBC WM and returned to BBC Radio Leicester after a 14 year hiatus.
