Hundreds of Leicester residents have taken part in a new video installation that is triggered by people's shadows.


Two hundred people from Leicester are featuring in an exciting new video installation which is triggered by shadows.

The Piece, called Under Scan, is made up of 1,000 portraits of members of the public from across the East Midlands.

It has been created by Mexican-Canadian artist Rafael Lozano-Hemmer, aged 37.

The piece, commissioned by the East Midlands Development Agency, was displayed in Humberstone Gate Wes, Leicester from 12-22 January.

Mr Lozano-Hemmer says it is his most ambitious piece of work.

He said: "It is the culmination of almost a year's work, including intensive research and technical and artistic development.

"It will provide the public with an intriguing shadow play and the chance to become actors in the piece".
