Anima Dance’s piece, called House Devil…Street Angel, has been created to support the work of Leicester Domestic Violence Forum.

Artistic director Sue Rosenbloom says it is an effective way of dealing with a tough subject.

She said: “The medium of dance can be extremely powerful and can sensitively articulate very difficult issues.”

Leicester Domestic Violence Forum’s coordinator Stephanie McBurney says the piece is part of her organisation’s search for new ways to communicate its message.

"Domestic violence often defies words and neat explanations – so this is a very suitable approach."

The production features music from singers ranging from romantic crooner Frank Sinatra to political campaigner Billy Bragg.

It is hoped the production, which has been performed at the Phoenix Arts centre, will tour schools and community groups.
