A Kylie Minogue tribute act from Leicestershire says she has been asked to stand in for the pop princess who is battling breast cancer.
Joanne Steel, aged 34, who lives in Hinckley with her 24-year-old husband, vending machine engineer Richard Bevington, has been performing for four years.
She has even been asked to perform her show, called Feverish, at a London hotel at an event attended by TV chef Gordon Ramsay. She said: "They originally wanted Kylie, but she has cut down on her commitments because of her health problems. "But Gordon Ramsay wanted a similar act – so they asked me!" But Joanne says she is not trying to step into the pop star's shoes.
She said: "I am not trying to replace Kylie in any way at all. There is only one Kylie and I am just paying tribute to her." Joanne performs all over the country and raised over £3,000 for charity Breast Cancer Care with a show at Ashby Road Sports Club in Hinckley on 30 September. She says she chose the charity because her sister, 41-year-old mum-of-one Rebecca Fagg, has had three breast cancer scares. Kylie Minogue even donated a signed copy of one of her singles, which was auctioned for £85. |
