Bike shops in Leicester are being give Bibles to encourage more motorcyclists to take an interest in religion. The East Midlands branch of the Christian Motorcyclists Association (CMA) is handing the books out to stores. The group holds monthly prayer meetings and runs special cafés at bike rallies where people can come and talk about their problems.
The CMA’s Bibles have been specially printed to look like motorbike handbooks and are called The Manual for Life. CMA member David Whittall, who is behind the Bible scheme, says the bike shops which have been approached so far have been very enthusiastic about it. He said: “Ultimately I hope this project will teach people more about the Lord Jesus Christ. “But initially the idea is to tell bikers more about how the CMA can help them. “We are Christians who also love motorbikes. "That doesn’t mean we have two heads – it just means we have found a way of combining our two interests.” |
