Our purpose is to encourage and assist the study of Local History as an academic discipline and as a rewarding leisure pursuit for both individuals and groups.

TV Newcastle Local Studies Library
The Local Studies Library is situated on the 2nd floor of the City Library. It contains about 45,000 books as well as other printed material. This includes a wide range of reports, pamphlets, periodicals, election leaflets, community newsletters and posters.

TV Whickham Local History Society
Whickham Local History Society encourages interest in the history of the North East of England and Whickham in particular. We meet at 7.45p.m. in the Community Centre, Front Street, Whickham on the fourth Monday in the month, from September to March, to hear a talk on a historical subject.
