TV Forest of Dean Local History Society
Our Society was started in 1948 and our most important aim is to encourage local historical and archaeological research in the Forest of Dean and its environs. Many of our members are doing their own historical researches, on a wide range of topics, with interests ranging from pre-historic and mediaeval times to the very recent past. This work is carried out in the field, in libraries, record offices and other places where documents are to be found. The Society holds lectures during the winter months and in the summer we arrange field trips and guided walks. We publish a quarterly newsletter and an annual journal The New Regard
