Metro's Leeds Station Interchange opens on Sunday 7 March, and should make life simpler for many of the 600,000 rail passengers, each year, who continue their journey in Leeds by bus or taxi.

Passengers will be able to use Leeds Station Interchange to catch their bus from five brand new bus stands, directly outside the front entrance of Leeds Station. The Interchange also incorporates the main station taxi rank protected by a domed canopy.

The £2.2m Interchange will be used by up to 90 buses per hour, travelling from east to west through the city to a wide range of destinations including Bramley, Greengates Headingley, Holbeck, Horsforth, Hunslet, Ireland Wood, Leeds Bradford Airport, Otley, Pudsey, Tyersal, West Park and Wortley.

It will also mean there are direct bus links from the city's bus station to the rail station.

Leeds City Council Leader, Councillor Keith Wakefield says: "Leeds Station Interchange will make integrated travel much easier for the tens of thousands of local people and visitors that use Leeds City Station every day.

"Modern, integrated transport links are vital to the ongoing prosperity and growth of Leeds and through developments such as this, we are introducing the right elements to achieve that essential connectivity."
