Federation - club review
Clubbers getting down on the dancefloor
Zenobia Tiley went along to Federation to see what the club had to offer. She wasn't very impressed. Read her review.

I had high hopes for Federation because it's run by the same people from one of Leeds' most trendy and favourite bars, Fibre.

Tacky
Unfortunately, Federation just wasn't for me. I found it tacky, tasteless and terrible
.
You cannot have a classy clubnight when you have to go into a portable toilet to pee.

Nearly naked men in cages on the stage may have turned some people on, but I just thought it was a bit seedy.

The DJ playing on a table in the middle of the stage looked over the top and a bit lost amid the music, which didn't really know where it was going anyway.

Sweat box
The main room was too big and lacked atmosphere. Although I appreciate it was the height of summer and expected inside to be a bit hot, the main room was roasting so much I couldn't even dance.

Outside on the terrace wasn't much better. I felt more scutty clubgrime than Ibizian chill out. The music (classic house) was more up and down than a rollercoaster.

I can see what they've tried to do here and Federation is great if you like that whole underground vibe of feeling like your at some kind of warehouse party, but not when you're paying £15

Themes
That said, I did like the theme night - Egyptians this time, Pirates of the Caribbean next month (6th September) - but it takes more than a few entertainers, fire breathers and a saxophone player to make this gay-friendly night fun.
