The
band played approximately 40 minutes of material from their debut
album under Epitaph Records, Stories and Alibis, which were accompanied
by some serious action happening in the Cockpit moshpit on Friday
night.
Until
about two weeks ago Matchbook Romance didnt mean a thing to
me, I was completely ignorant to the existence of this band, now
I think for the last two years this band have been going where the
hell have I been?
The
emotionally charged songs were a fusion of rock, emo, screamo and
anything else you can think of throwing in there! Most tracks featuring
on this album are love songs, not surprisingly, the band name is
a bit of a giveaway.
The
gig was flawless, with the smooth running down to the bands backstage
team so a huge thumbs up for Matchbook Romance and the behind-the-scenes
hero, tour manager Tex.
The
performance was impressive especially the reaction from the crowd
and fanbase, which band member Andy mentioned had grown quite a
lot from the last time they played the UK.
If
you missed the Cockpit gig then quickly dash to Manchester to catch
their gig at the Underworld on Tuesday 27 January as they really
are worth seeing!
