The
band has known each other for years, having played in various groups
but on the same circuit for around four years now. But 10,000 Things
as we know it have been going for about two years now.

It
is an exciting time to be in a band in Leeds, and guitarist Will
Newman very much agrees.
He
says: "I love being in Leeds right now. There are some great
bands here and we get on well with a lot of them. I really like
The Cribs, New Mind's Eye and Bilge Pump. But I think the best band
in Leeds right now are Buzzkill."
Their
contribution to the music scene is not going unnoticed. They have
a punky and energetic live set which has led to the title 'the New
Yorkshire Dolls' being chucked around every review with gay abandon;
it describes them well.
At
their last gig in Leeds the lead singer, Sam Riley, hopped down
into the crowd and stalked about like he wanted to belt someone
that's the mark of a winning frontman in my book.
Their
first EP is due out in February and they dont even have a
name for it, yet it is generating plenty of interest. So much so
that Will said theyve been surprised by how quickly its
taken off.
Even
The Times have picked up on the jewel in Leeds' musical crown. Not
only do they believe that the current music climate in Leeds has
begun to surpass that of Manchester, but they compare the Things
to the heroes of Manc scally-rock, Oasis. No pressure there, then.
But
Will was very pleased with the outcome. He says: "They were
absolutely spot-on, they obviously paid attention to what Sam was
singing about and gave us a great review."
Their
lyrics may focus on such mundane things in life as work but their
name refers to the Taoist meaning of our material world, and their
singer wears a damn fine belt. That's something to get excited about.
