| FACTS |
 |
|
New
York was the 11th state in the USA; it became a state on July
26, 1788.
The
English took over the area that had been called "New
Netherland" in 1664, and renamed it New York to honour
of the Duke of York.
The
city is subdivided into five boroughs - Queens, Brooklyn,
Staten Island, the Bronx, and Manhattan.
Almost
all of the Bronx is situated on the mainland, but the other
boroughs are situated on, or comprise, islands. In all, New
York comprises some 50 islands.

Tim
went to New York with a 20-year-old 35mm Pentax ME Super and several
rolls of 400 speed Kodak black-and-white film.
The
shot of the Brooklyn Bridge was, however, shot with a medium format
camera producing two and-a-quarter-inch square negatives.
All
of them were processed and printed at home.
