It seems that Jane has been travelling for days but there is still 30 days to go. Amazing to think that Euro 2004 will be five days away when Jane finishes.

A little notice landmark was reached today when Jane left the Tuscany region and entered Liguria. Due to a number of problems on the road and yesterdays awful conditions today's route was changed hug the coast.

A good choice as although they travelled 50 miles they covered the journey in good time and Jane was able to do her washing whilst taking advantage of a drying wind and hotel balcony.

Because Jane and Luke have no support they are self-reliant for the hygiene factors of the ride. If they fail to take proper care they will have slight clothing issues which could lead to bigger problems.

Although not crossing the Alps they will have to traverse the hills that lie in the border region with France. Tomorrow, although 60 miles, should be reasonable and then the hills will start to bite and the real cycling will begin.

Highlight of the day was that Jane and Luke managed to tag onto the back of a peloton for five miles to the annoyance of some Italian cyclists. Not because they were unfriendly but having a tandem with full panniers was not good for the ego of some racing cyclists...
