Well, the best laid plans and all that.

The cycling today was extremely difficult into a headwind almost all day and so the 75 miles were difficult to complete. It was a long journey in the saddle and rather cold on the bike and very wet at the finish.

Last year during the John O'Groats to Lands End there was almost unbroken sunshine for all the journey this year it's like cycling in Manchester for days.

The message is holiday in Scotland in March not Italy in May.

An additional amount was cycled today so as to visit Pisa today instead of tomorrow. The aim being that this would reduce what is planned to be a difficult stage tomorrow over some fairly big hills.

However.....the rub was that the day for various technical reasons (which I won't bore you with here) the events for today didn't go anywhere near as planned and so tomorrow Jane & Luke are planning to change the route and hug the coast avoiding the hills.

'What is going on?' you may ask and I have pleaded '2500 miles is nowt get some hill work done'. Alas they will have nothing of it so coast it is.

Only 31 days and 2200 miles to go so the finish is in sight!
