FACTS

Mel B is to play a nurse in the new BBC drama Burn It, about a group of friends in Manchester.

She was voted Spectacle Wearer of the Year in 1997.

As Scary Spice she and the other Spice Girls took the charts by storm and brought the concept of girl power to a generation of adoring fans.

Following a short-lived marriage to dancer Jimmy Guzar she has a daughter, Phoenix Chi, born in 1999.

Apart from her work in the Spice Girls, Mel B has released her own solo music projects, has written her autobiagraphy and is looking forward to a career in acting.
