Kay Mellor is the writer of some of the most successful television dramas in recent times.

Her hits include such series' as Band of Gold, Fat Friends and Playing the Field.

As well as writing, Kay Mellor also directed the British film Fanny and Elvis.

Still based in Leeds she firmly believes that the city, and Yorkshire, provides a rich inspiration for her characters.
