Posy
has always dreamed of being the heroine of a Francoise Sagan
novel.
But
life seems to have passed by and now here she is, a mother
of four, going round and round an endless circuit of school,
shopping, and the endless making of and clearing up after
meals.
Rebecca
Smith's second novel captures the dreams and fears of a woman
trapped in the clutches of domesticity, who wants much, much
more.

This
is the story of a year in the life of Posy and her family.
Initially
you would think that Posy has the kind of life a lot of people would
consider perfect. A handsome husband, four healthy children and
a house which is paid for, you may even think that Posy is a little
selfish in wishing for more, after all her life is like a fairy
tale isn't it?
But
read on and you find that the Husband is far from perfect, the house
is badly in need of repair and with school, pre-school and other
activities Posy never has any time for herself - oh and she is broke!
Added
to this Stella (Posy's Sister) is apparently perfect and organises
people for a living, leaving Posy wondering where she went wrong.
The
book is thoroughly enjoyable and is very true to life, parts make
you want to yell in frustration and other parts make you want to
laugh out loud.
It
left me wanting to know how things eventually turn out for all of
the main characters, and a sequel maybe taking up a year or so from
where this left off would be wonderful.
