Feather Wars : The plot

Sam is being bullied at school. A quiet, creeping insidious form of bullying that has Sam terrified of his persecutors. Sam is also very angry with his father as it appears that he is the cause of the bullying. Sam's father keeps pigeons and the bullies find this amusing. When Sam's father has to go off and help in the D-Day landings and Sam is left at home with his mother and little sister things begin to change for him...

Feather Wars book cover

"Dear everyone back home, I'm not going to make it home in time
for easter after all ...
lots of love take care, Mat x"

This is a quote taken from the start of the book Feather Wars by Sally Grindley.

The story was set in 1940 when Europe was at war. My favourite chapter is the one where the family were alarmed that Mat who is in the army
was hurt.

In the story I really felt sorry for another of the characters called Sam as he was bullied at school and has not yet heard from his brother Mat.

I liked this book because I could picture the story and all the characters.

I enjoyed the book although it isn't one of my favourites.
