Andrea lives with her boyfriend in Leeds city centre. Her debut novel, The Ex Factor, was published in May 2003.

The Ex-Factor

"It's funny, however many words it takes to build a relationship, it always only takes four to knock it to the ground.."

This is Martha Seymore, relationship expert extraordinaire and sex columnist for Gloss magazine, after her boyfriend tells her 'I slept with someone'.

As Martha tries to get over his infidelity, she soon finds herself haunted by a gallery of ex-friends and ex-lovers who seem to have all the answers. But Martha has to work out the secret to happiness for herself...

Since its publication earlier this year, the book has been well received by critics and the public alike.

Andrea says: "One magazine has called me a 'hot new talent of 2003' and 'the new Marian Keyes' - which was nice!"

Basking in the glow of being a newly-published author, Andrea admits to hanging around book shops looking at her novel - and even to a bout of shelf reshuffling!

She says: "I keep going into shops and seeing my name, it's very exciting."

Far from resting on her laurels, Andrea has already started on her next project: "I'm working on my second novel now, it's nearly finished, so things are going really well."

Andrea has also created a website aimed at budding young novelists.

As well as her own advice, it includes exclusive contributions from best-selling authors such as Jenny Colgan, Jennifer Weiner, Janet Evanovich, Carole Matthews and Zoe Barnes.

The site has had a huge response from would-be writers around the world.
