Tim
says: I studied geography at the University of Leeds but maintained
a strong interest in fine art.
"I
am drawn to cityscapes that have aged and
decayed, using them for the basis for my work. Through my paintings
I try to capture the graphic, sharp form envisaged on architects
drawing board and then overlay this with the layers of character
that the building has acquired over time.
"My
current project is to record the Royal Mail House, Wellington Street
in Leeds final days. As it stands today it is possible to
see its steel structure, painted interior walls and roughly constructed
wooden chutes that are used to deposit rubble.
"Coat
hooks can now be seen exposed several storeys that are now inaccessible
as the floors beneath have been demolished.
"This
anomaly drives home the fact that this space briefly has no commercial
function but from an aesthetic perspective, the area may never have
more to offer."
