Tiger Shadow on the Leeds BBC Introducing stage

Tiger Shadow bringing it back to Leeds

Bringing it back home

Leeds band Tiger Shadow talk about getting a break on the BBC Introducing stage at Leeds and Reading festivals.

Imagine if you formed a band and then it got to play just one live gig before appearing onstage at the Leeds and Reading festivals.

That's what happened to Tiger Shadow from Leeds. Having won a spot Tiger Shadow got to play at both venues... the band's second and third live gigs. It was all thanks to the BBC Introducing Stage.

Layla Painter from BBC Leeds caught up with Tiger Shadow's Komla MC, Lynsey and Jim at the home-town gig, and asked what it was like to play Leeds.

Apparently it was "warmer" in Reading but the band loved "bringing it back home to Leeds".

The full collective includes West African vocalist and drummer Komla MC, singer Lynsey Cawthra, guitarist Ser Nik, synths and bass from Jim Tycho, guitar from Dave Pearson and drums and percussion from Sheikh Sticks and Karim Nashar.

Tiger Shadow formed in early 2008 and are described as a genre-crossing collective mixing electronica and jazz with hip hop. Members of Tiger Shadow appeared in Leeds bands including Red Line, Dolores and Tycho.
