CSV InteractionYou are in: Leeds > BBC Radio Leeds > CSV Interaction > Dan Aid - Mix & Mash ![]() Firesuite Dan Aid - Mix & MashCSV Action, together with half a dozen local bands, are putting on a gig to promote safe piercing, after the tragic death of a young music fan. Six local bands have volunteered to play a charity gig to promote safe piercing! Dan Aid - Mix & Mash will feature a variety of music with all proceeds going to the charity, Dan Aid. After the tragic death of her son, Christina Anderson set up the charity Dan Aid to promote safe body piercing. Daniel was 17 and died of septicaemia. After getting his lip pierced, Daniel was not informed of the dangers and hadn't completed a health questionnaire so was unaware that his personal heart condition put him more at risk if he developed an infection. Dan Aid is campaigning for stricter legislation on body piercing and aims to share the information young people need to make an informed choice about safer piercing. Louise Rigg CSV Agent 4 Change decided to make a difference by holding a gig to highlight and raise money for Dan Aid: "While working with youth in Leeds on various schemes I discovered that the body piercing and gigging scene go hand in hand. I wanted to give Dan Aid exposure to their target audience which could benefit from knowing more about safer piercing." Chris from Firesuite a band playing at the Dan Aid - Mix & Mash, knew Dan and explains his very personal reasons for joining the list of artists performing at the gig: "Dan Aid is a cause that is dear to our hearts. We are going to be there to hopefully help raise awareness about something which affects a massive cross section of society, and bring a considerable amount of rock based action also." Bands showing their support for the Dan Aid charity and campaign are Dan Audio, Unfinished Drawings, Firesuite, Girl Kills Boy, Kill All Enemies and Scott McEwan from Caffeine. Dan Aid - Mix & Mash takes place at Josephs Well, Hanover Walk on Friday 13 June 2008. The first band will take to the stage at 8pm and entry is £5 on the door, with all profits going to Dan Aid. last updated: 05/06/2008 at 16:27 SEE ALSOYou are in: Leeds > BBC Radio Leeds > CSV Interaction > Dan Aid - Mix & Mash |
