What a washout!.....Take two.

Leeds City Council announces that all local league football and rugby fixtures due to take place this weekend on council pitches, are postponed for the second week in a row.

Sports pitches owned by Leeds City Council will again be closed this weekend (20/21 January 2007) because of bad weather.

Conditions have not improved significantly this week after the grounds had to be shut last weekend following a prolonged period of high rainfall in the Leeds area.  This has led the council to again reluctantly take the decision to close all outdoor pitches.

The ground is waterlogged, which makes line marking impractical and creates unfit playing surfaces.

The closure affects all of Leeds City Council's 270 outdoor pitches, including those for both rugby and football. Teams are also asked not to undertake training on the pitches as this could also cause problems.
