BBC Radio Leeds station infoYou are in: Leeds > BBC Radio Leeds > BBC Radio Leeds station info > Diana Luke ![]() Diana Luke Diana LukeFind out more about your favourite BBC Radio Leeds presenter. About MeStarsign: Cancerian Snake Grew up in: As one of five kids in a small village of 1500 north of Toronto, Ontario, Canada First job: Working at my Dad's drugstore- pharmacy as a shop assistant. Loved to eat the warm cashews in the nut machine and try on the perfumes! First car: A wee green Fiat. I had a cat called Crazy Hazel who used to perch on my shoulder. First record bought: Fly Me To the Moon - what do you expect of a Cancerian with the name Diana! First kiss: About six- with my friend Jamie - we wanted to kiss like they did in the cowboy movies but we weren't impressed. I found out many years later that he is gay. My Favourite ThingsFood: Most seafoods but mainly lobster - try the Magpie in Whitby and dark chocolate. Drink: Pinot grigio, shiraz, dark and stormy, fresh brewed strong coffee and ginger and honey tea Place in the world: Too many to limit it to one - Northern Canada, Venice out of season, Mauritius for the people, St Lucia for the snorkelling, West coast of Ireland for that feeling of coming home, haunted buildings and old churches for the vibe. Place in West Yorkshire: Leeds for shopping and nightlife, areas around Brighouse and Hebden Bridge for great walking, pubs and live music. TV show: Corrie, Emmerdale, 2 Pints of Lager, Desperate Housewives. Movie: The latest was Ray Charles - can't wait till it comes out on DVD so I can get up and dance to it - not so easy at the cinema! Music Act: Outroads, Van Morrison, U2, John Martyn, Cuban, Blues, Rock, Soul - love it all. Cannot imagine life without music - cue John Miles! Thing in your wardrobe: Beautiful silk and sequin designer evening dress I got in a second hand shop and my silk stockings, real glam stuff I don't often have the opportunity to wear. Possession: My relationship with my loved ones - soppy but true. Heroes (fave people): Dr Elizabeth Kubler Ross, all the unsung heroes who smile in the face of adversity and lend a hand to others unconditionally, people who have been victims then chose to be survivors and then thrivers - magnificent! Zeroes (least fave people): Grumpy people who never see the great things life has to offer- if only they would change their focus outwards to life around them ....and queue jumpers. Hobbies/Interests: Tarot reading, walking, classic cars, snorkelling, visiting haunted places, having friends around for a meal, hypnotherapy, driving my convertible, grabbing a spontaneous moment a doing something fun. Best Radio Moment: So many good ones like being kissed by Terence Stamp, hitting Jeffery Archer, Buddy Guy playing live in the studio, Geoff Boycott offering to drop his trousers, collecting over 5000 messages from former guests like Steve Winwood, Alan Bleasdale, Lynda LaPlante, Mary Wesley, Jeremy Clarkson, Gladys Knight, Timothy Spall, Chet Atkins - the list of great moments is endless- here's to many more! And Finally...What would you be if you weren't on the radio? I would continue to write and present airline programmes, see clients for hypnotherapy and pine for some more opportunities to experience the excitement of live radio! last updated: 14/05/2008 at 12:01 You are in: Leeds > BBC Radio Leeds > BBC Radio Leeds station info > Diana Luke |
