| About Sam | I was born in Surrey, grew up in Berkshire and was a boarder at Monmouth. I currently divide my time between homes in Sussex and Pembrokeshire and University in Leeds, where I’m in my first year studying Geography. I’m rather partial to coffee, flying, music, performing arts, photography, politics, theatre, travelling and wine. |
The University has told us numerous times that there is a housing surplus in Leeds and we shouldn't worry about looking for houses until February and March. Here we are at the beginning of February, and at least half of my friends have already signed their contracts. Agents have already scrawled the words "SOLD" across most of the houses in their books. So much for a surplus. You'd think finding house would be a relatively easy task. Step one: Choose who you want to live with. Luckily, my housemates are all very nice people. But goodness me, I've never seen so much tension between friends! Some people aren't even talking to each other anymore because one doesn't want to live with the other - so much for being mature adults! Step two: Choose where you want to live. For those of you who don't know Leeds, most students live in the Headingley area, which is near the famous cricket ground. I have no idea why everyone wants to live in Headingley - it's a good half hour's walk from the Uni. You'd think people would want to live closer. Well, I do. Hopefully, in a few weeks I shall be able to blog the news of a signed contract. Although it may be a little while judging by the two houses we saw yesterday... Oh, by the way, I'm writing this using the University's wireless network. Pure genius. I'm off to get a half price sandwich from the Sandwich Man. Ciao for now. |
