With the Kaiser Chiefs putting Leeds back on the music map, there is no better time to be in a band in this city. And no better time to enter Bright Young Things (BYT), a music showcase giving local bands a springboard into the public arena. Coming up to its second decade of success, BYT has seen bands from The Music to Bodixa to 10,000 Things take part, providing them with early production and support to aid them on their climb to the top.

Fifteen groups or solo artists chosen by the BYT music experts will be given the opportunity to feature on a unique CD to be released in March next year. Bright Young Things has also become well known for its live gigs, giving the winning bands a chance to perform a high profile concert to a crowd of their peers, music enthusiasts and various music professionals. All the bands chosen for Bright Young Things will also benefit from free rehearsal and recording time, a professional photo shoot and press and media coverage. The competition is open to all musicians aged 25 or under who live in Leeds. All you need to do to enter is get together a demo of original work, a biography and a couple of photos, then send it all in to the BYT team at Leeds City Council along with an application form.
Full details and downloadable application forms are available from the BYT website: Bright Young Things > The BBC is not responsible for the content of external websites The deadline for applications is Friday 18 November 2005. |
