BIOGRAPHY:
Ashley Hicklin has been writing and performing in bands and as a solo artist for 6 years. From a UK tour, festivals, auditions and even dates in Sweden, his musical talents have travelled far and wide. He achieved an ‘A’ in music at A-level and went on to study a BA in classical music at the Leeds College of Music.

Presently, Ashley is being classically trained as an Opera singer, as well as developing his compositional techniques in both the classical and popular fields. In fusing these genres, he has developed popular acoustic songs with original string quartet accompaniments: Classical Pop!

His first musical output on the Leeds scene was performing as a duo with cellist Nicola McAteer. The idea of introducing a string quartet was realised only a few months later, following many hours of intense composition. “Ashley Hicklin and the Troubadours” features fellow musicians from LCM.

Ashley is a finalist in Leeds ‘Bright Young Things’ 2006 competition. This title is a reflection of several years hard-graft and is giving him the opportunity to promote his work further, with much publicity and appreciated financial support.
