The competition is just one of a series of events leading up to the I Love West Leeds Festival which runs from 11th-16th July. "We’re encouraging everyone to have a go" said Jane Earnshaw, Festival Director. "If you’ve got access to a camcorder and feel strongly about the area you live in then why not go out and do some filming and send us the results? If it’s good enough your film could be screened as part of the Festival." If you’re not into filmmaking but you have a camera or cameraphone, then there’s also a photographic exhibition running alongside the film competition. Again the theme is I Love West Leeds and the best entries will be exhibited during festival week. There are three age categories for both the filmmaking competition and the photography exhibition: under 11s, 12-18 and over 18. Films must be no longer than two minutes long and should be supplied in DV format. Photographs should be submitted as prints with a short explanation of what your chosen image means to you. All entries should be sent to: I Love West Leeds, Interplay Theatre, Armley Ridge Road, Leeds LS12 3LE.
The closing date is Tuesday 28 June 2005 and don’t forget to include details of your name, age and address plus a contact telephone number if possible. There will be a prize for the best film, provided by Asda. I Love West Leeds is a brand new arts festival taking place at venues throughout West Leeds and will include a range of professional and community performances, exhibitions and a community radio station. The grand finale will be a festival day in Farnley Park on Saturday 16 July |
