ARTIST/BAND: David Beebee - (the dB² band) BASED IN: Alwoodley BAND MEMBERS: David Beebee - Guitars Vocalcs Jon Chamberlain - Bass Steve Doyle - Guitar + Backing Vocals Chris Marquand - Drums Jonny Mellville - Keys BEEN GOING SINCE: January 2004 BIOGRAPHY: The dB² band began with David's self produced and independently released album "dB²". For this he wrote and recorded all the music/instruments in the confines of a modest home/bedroom computer-based studio setup. Whilst completing the album he recruited some of the finest musical colleagues and friends from the area and Leeds College of Music to turn the recorded songs into fully fleshed live versions with the chemistry of a live band. Although the album is a solo record, the dB² band wishes to continue into future as a band writing, recording and performing as a tight, powerful musical unit. STYLE OF MUSIC: The album/band is influenced mostly by American rock and alternative music. The songs are very diverse in texture whilst still sounding like the same artist. The band can go from a jazz/pop whisper to a full on alt metal riffing whilst retaining the qualities that make them unique. Classically, jazz and rock trained the band are unafraid to solo, rock out, improvise whilst at the same time know how to hold back for the sake and beauty or a song. Whilst travelling in the US David found a love for this unabashed love of solid guitar based song writing that has somewhat been a devoid in the UK for some time since late 60s and 70s. The band believe they can populate again music and songs that are well crafted, melodic and diverse whilst still getting across some serious riffing and musicianship. INFLUENCES: The record in particular is influenced by a lot of American bands such as Matchbox 20 (Rob Thomas), Fuel, Lifehouse, Maroon 5, Alter Bridge (Creed), Breaking Benjamin, 3 Doors Down. These are bands that are of a similar style to David however coming from such diverse backgorunds each member has love for styles ranging from classical, to jazz/funk and electronica. FAVOURITE SONG: Umm Layla, Eric Clapton. Pretty much timeless classic. And a song I grew up loving and learning. BEST MOMENT SO FAR: As a solo artist and producer the morning I got the first delivery of my debut album. 500 copies in boxes littering the downstairs it was quite a sight. And the feeling of finally achieving and bringing to life this musical dream was overwhelming. As a band it was filming our first music video for the song "From Here". Very exciting and surreal experience. The end result was awesome too. OTHER INFO: You can check out the album and video and many other goodies at the website.
